Why choose the “coarse grinding+fine grinding+ grading process” for 100,000-ton ultra-fine heavy calcium powder project?
On June 22, 2026, Anhui Hongyi New Material Technology Co., Ltd. made public the environmental assessment for its project to produce 100,000 tons per year of ultra-fine heavy calcium carbonate powder. The project is based in Wuhu City, with a total investment of 120 million yuan and a construction period of 3 months.
The project is designed to produce 100,000 tons per year of ultra-fine heavy calcium carbonate powder with particle sizes ≤5μm, using coarse calcium carbonate as raw material throughout the production process, without involving any mining. The project adopts a combination process of 'ring roller mill for coarse grinding, fluidized bed jet mill for ultra-fine grinding, and multi-stage air classification,' and the products are widely applicable to downstream uses such as high-end coatings, engineering plastics, papermaking, and functional new materials.
Wet grind heavy calcium carbonate to D90=2μm. It’s recommended to use Φ0.6-0.8mm yttria-stabilized zirconia beads (95% zirconia). If you need single-stage high-efficiency, you can combine with Φ0.4-0.6mm nano zirconia beads.
- Equipment type: must use a vertical or horizontal sand mill (bar/plate type); ordinary ball mills are hard to consistently reach D90=2μm
